PERFORMER Wanted ‍

Victoria Briggs and Filskit Theatre are recruiting a performer for a production of Little Robin Red Vest at Oxford Playhouse this Winter.  

Based on Jan Fearnley’s classic picture book, Little Robin Red Vest features original songs, puppetry, and integrated Makaton. The show is a fast-paced, multi-roling, multisensory treat, perfect for little ones aged 2-6 and their families. You can find out more about the show and watch a short trailer here.

The show is performed by 2 actors, and this year we’re recruiting a swing who will learn and play both roles across the run. We would love to meet performers who share our passion for creating magical and accessible theatre experiences for families. 

Dates and Fee

The role is paid at a rate of £650 per week.  

Friday 11th September, Auditions will be held at Oxford Playhouse

w/c Monday 16th November, Rehearsals in Salisbury (venue TBC) 

Tuesday 24th – Saturday 28th November, Rehearsals & Shows @ GL4, Gloucester (Matson Baptist Church) 

Monday 30th November – Tuesday 1st December, Get In & Rehearsals @ Oxford Playhouse 

Weds 2nd December – Sunday 3rd January, Shows @ Oxford Playhouse (BT Studio) 

 

Our Ideal Performer

Our ideal performer will have the following skills & attributes: 

Essential 

  • a passion for creating high-quality work for family audiences 

  • strong alto singing voice 

  • strong storytelling and multi-roling skills 

  • desire to create inclusive and accessible theatre 

  • lives or has a base close (commutable) to Oxford 

  • available on Friday 11th September for auditions at Oxford Playhouse 

Desirable 

  • strong puppetry skills 

  • knowledge or experience of Makaton 

We welcome applications from performers of all ages, genders and backgrounds. We are particularly keen to hear from global majority performers and those underrepresented in the theatre sector.
